Managed to fit in a couple of finds on the way home from Harlow this afternoon. The first was Ramblin' Rosie which is next to the Royal Rose Society. A couple of minutes later and several blind curves and country lanes navigated we arrived at Passport to Pimlico which took us a while to find. Just as we were in the trees, dressed in office clothes, someone walked passed and never gave us a second look!
We then tried to do Cache and Carry but weren't able to find this one, despite slipping and sliding down the slopes.
Just as I was using gpxsonar yesterday and thinking it's been a long time since it was updated, there is a post in the forums with the news of gpxsonar 1.3 available
Its been a couple of weeks since I thought I had got to 200 and hadn't. With the aid of Stormcat and Arrks, the total had risen to 197 found and I just had three more to do and today was the day.
I decided to head off to (hilly) Buxton and do a couple of caches there and then head to Cheshire's Highest Cache for the 200th.
Back of Macc Forest was the first find which was straight up a hill and then back down to the carpark. Not too steep, but uphill all the way.
Lightly Wooded Walk was next with a short steep walk, which I don't think is quite what the cache owner had in mind, but I did discover the lightly wooded wood on the way back, along with a "house" in the middle of the trees and several peat bogs.
Cheshire's Highest Cache was the final cache and a very rewarding cache. Had to wait for ages for other walkers to disappear who were sheltering from the wind just down the stone wall from where I was.
Now I'm sitting at home nursing the blisters - but happy.
Congratulate me here
My post with a firefox bookmarklet on the geocaching forums has details on how to create a bookmarklet to link from a list of coordinates to streetmap.co.uk
benchmarks translator is an excellent page to transfer from coordinates to a streetmap location. Very handy - now to somehow get this working on a bookmarklet.
Finished off the hiding of my latest geocache - this one is rated a 5* difficulty and is a members only cache so it will be interesting to see how long it is before someone cracks it - Between the lines
If you've worked it out, then please don't spoil it for the other people who haven't found it yet - one of the reasons this post is not commentable.
