Last night was fun — we found an Indian restaurant nearby that serves very tasty food — our first try! We have been talking about finding a good Indian for months, but haven’t been brave enough to try anywhere yet — and Andy went online and found a few recommendations for this place and so we decided to go for it. One of the recommendations was from an ex-pat Brit who said it was the best Indian food they’d had since being home in Britain — but that it wasn’t quite as good as there, but next best thing… So we went and I had just a regular korma and Andy had some sort of variety platter and we tasted all kinds of things. Most of the things were the same as we thought they would be, but the popodums (which they called popardums) were SPICY HOT — oh my word they nearly burnt my mouth!! Here I was thinking that the heat was from the sauce I was dipping it into, and the heat was in the actual thing! So I had assumed that eating the popodum plain would take the taste out of my mouth and it only made it worse!! It was kind of funny — but not at the time — whhhoooooeeeey. HOT.
I won’t write much more because my hubby posted a HUGE entry about our dinner…

Saturday, February 25th, 2006Crumpets
Wednesday, December 8th, 2004My mother and I were on the phone last night and we were talking about various things and one of the things I mentioned was that Andy would miss crumpets when we finally get (please Lord soon!) to the States.
She commented that she wasn’t all that impressed with them when she had tasted them (she brought some back with her after their last visit a couple of years ago). I asked how she had prepared them, if she had toasted them? She couldn’t remember, only that she hadn’t liked them.
They’re wonderful things! I found a couple of interesting websites — one that has a recipe for crumpets!
I even found a lovely picture of a toasted crumpet… mmmmmmmm yummy.
