Sorry about this dribs and drabs dissemination of information here-- Andy is still tweaking my blog while I'm trying to get started!
I was able to drive myself into work today-- and even got to do the storytime with Sue O. -- poor Emma is poorly. It is really only fair as Sue and I haven't done any story times (Sue did Christmas Eve) since sometime in November! Sue read a brilliant book about monsters (sorry I can't remember the title) and a baby board touchy-feely book which might have been titled "That's not my bear!". The kids (all three of them!) loved it. I read "Little Quack" and "Babies on Parade"-- both seemed to go really well, and then we had some monsters for them to color in and decorate.
The most interesting query I got yesterday really beats any queries today, so I'll use that one instead! It was a telephone call from a bloke in Northern Ireland wanting information on local newspapers for the area of Holmes Chapel! There are a number of things wrong with this query-- starting with the fact that Holmes Chapel doesn't even have a local paper, because it's not a very big town!! So I gave him the info for the (massive metropolitan!) Congleton paper, but it turns out he's already got the info on that. The whole situation was that he was doing some advertising for recruiting, and they wanted to recruit from the Holmes Chapel area... seemed really strange to me!! Don't get me wrong, the folks in HC are extremely nice and friendly, but it's quite a tiny place! You'd think that a company in Northern Ireland would be casting a bigger (more local to them?) net?? The other thing of note about this phone call was that the gentleman didn't have even a hint of an Irish accent!
weird things happen at work.
