You may think that working in a library is just a load of fun-- just sitting around all day reading and then stamping books with due dates. Welp, it isn't like that. Not a bit. Anyhoo-- just wanted to mention some brilliant books that I've read recently.
Holes -- by Louis Sachar
An excellent book, not very difficult (it's actually classed as a young adult's book) but hard to put down-- read it in 2 sittings. It's got a really good storyline with some strong characters and a few surprises. They recently released the film of it, but I don't think it did very well over here in the UK.
Chesapeake Blue -- by Nora Roberts
A very fun read, a no-brainer, but really fun in a laugh out loud kind of way. I love the way Nora Roberts creates her male characters to be so funny and pal-ly. She's good at describing American men's relationships (non-sexual). She writes in three different categories, romance novels, general fiction (with romantic/fantasy storylines) and thrillers (as J.D. Robb). When I read Chesapeake Blue, about the Quinn brothers, I completely fell in love with her sense of humor. I loved the way she wrote about the 4 brothers and how they relate to one another. Chesapeake is still my favorite, though I have read all the books in that series. I'm really disappointed, it seems many of her recent books have wiccan themes and as a Christian, that doesn't appeal to me at all. I think I will go and have a look sometime to find out other series by her which don't have that element as I really enjoyed her style.
