Indian meal in the US!

Last night was fun -- we found an Indian restaurant nearby that serves very tasty food -- our first try! We have been talking about finding a good Indian for months, but haven't been brave enough to try anywhere yet -- and Andy went online and found a few recommendations for this place and so we decided to go for it. One of the recommendations was from an ex-pat Brit who said it was the best Indian food they'd had since being home in Britain -- but that it wasn't quite as good as there, but next best thing... So we went and I had just a regular korma and Andy had some sort of variety platter and we tasted all kinds of things. Most of the things were the same as we thought they would be, but the popodums (which they called popardums) were SPICY HOT -- oh my word they nearly burnt my mouth!! Here I was thinking that the heat was from the sauce I was dipping it into, and the heat was in the actual thing! So I had assumed that eating the popodum plain would take the taste out of my mouth and it only made it worse!! It was kind of funny -- but not at the time -- whhhoooooeeeey. HOT.

I won't write much more because my hubby posted a HUGE entry about our dinner...

long time no blog...

sorry about that folks...

life has been a bit insane.

We moved into our new house just before Christmas, and then not long after that I got an interview for a job which I was offered and which I accepted!

I started working -- training up at the Delaware store, but will eventually (hopefully mid-March or so) be working at the Clintonville store -- which I have been told will be much bigger and flashier and better!! I can't wait to see it.

So for the last month and a bit I have been driving back and forth from Delaware -- and learning lots during my training. One great thing is that the gal who has been training me (and with whom I have really clicked) will be my new boss at the new store!

Although my job is part time, I have been putting in many more hours than I will eventually be doing -- because I'm training and because my hours aren't charged to the Delaware store, so to them I'm free help! So I get all the Spring Cleaning etc. kind of jobs.

I'm really enjoying the work, but wish the new store was ready! Mom & Ali and I had to go somewhere in Clintonville today and we went past the new location -- doesn't look very ready!! :( But it does look big!

So I'll keep you posted once I get to the new store... for now there probably won't be many posts... just like the new house -- I'm half unpacked and half-crazy! Nevermind...

how much do I *love* my new job???

whole bunches!!!!!

Okay -- for those of you who know me... how much fun would it be for me to have a job where I get to talk about scrapbooking and play with paper and stickers and ribbon and make scrapbook page layouts allll day long???

TOO MUCH FUN TO BE LEGAL. That's all I can say.

So that's the grand upside to my new job! The grand downside to it is the pay :( It is minimum wage plus commission. Unfortunately the commission is not linked to every single item in the store, only selected ones... and the commission disappears almost completely if that select item is on sale...

for example...

on Wednesday at one point, I served a woman who had chosen 200 something of the sale papers... (which I have to scan one at a time and change the price of each sheet to 20 cents!!) and that happens to be one of those items that I receive no commission for.... so you can imagine how much fun that was... and the rub of salt in the wound was that the very next lady I served had over 125 papers... oy vey.

But all in all I'm really enjoying myself -- the gal who is training me is a really nice gal and is also a Christian. We hit it off right away and she's been great in teaching me all I need to know.

The sad thing is that I'm training in the Delaware store but I've been hired to work in the Beechwold store -- which for me is closer, but I will certainly miss the cool folks who work at the Delaware store!! I don't know when the new store will open (I've been told sometime in February?)... so watch this space to see what happens once the new store is open!
