spring has arrived...

Yesterday was simply gorgeous.

It got up to about 75 degrees and was sunny but some clouds in the sky -- beautiful. I spent the morning with my friend Tracy just running around -- I took her to where I work and we walked around and then we had a yummy lunch of gyros, and then we popped into JoAnns to pick up some scrapbooking stuff and lastly we stopped into Andersons to pick up ingredients for what I'm bringing to Mom's house for Easter dinner.

Just before she left, she was speculating on having a nap outside or just sitting outside and reading... which sounded like a great idea! So once she'd gone, I dragged two of the patio chairs we'd purchased last year at a garage sale out onto our lil cement patio and had a glass of iced tea and read my book for about 45 mins. I knew I couldn't stay out long because I didn't have any sunscreen on, and I have to be really careful about that. But just that little amount of time out there was so relaxing!

Here's the funny part --

I went back outside just after 5, to just sit and read and wait for Andy to get home. Just as I was about to come inside, I opened the door to find Andy marching across the room carrying his hammock (another great garage sale purchase!!) with such determination and a mischievous twinkle in his eye that I just had to laugh.

I raced to get the camera but unfortunately we're out of AA batteries-- so I missed that wonderful photo opportunity!! I'll get a picture at some point of him lounging in the hammock... just need to make a trip to Sams to buy some more batteries!!!

Ice Age 2

We went to see this last night -- it's been out a while here, but we haven't seen a movie in the theaters since Wallace & Gromit came out!!

Anyhow, we thought it was a decent movie -- didn't have that slam of anger/guilt/regret that we'd paid $6.50 each to see the movie on big screen when we could have waited to see it for 50c or on dvd.

We liked the funny parts -- the things that kids just wouldn't get... but what we didn't like was how much violence was in this movie. I was really surprised. It was downright scary at some points (lots of Jaws references) and I would have been scared out of my wits if I'd been a kid!

Apart from that and the horrendous scene where the vultures sing... which once I stopped groaning I think I might have snickered a time or two.

I hope I haven't given too much away.

After the movie we went to Cache-n-Coffee (Andy and his geocaching -- the Central Ohio Geocachers Association meets once a month at Cup-O-Joes in the Easton mall) and although I don't enjoy caching, I can still make conversation with these folks -- long as they don't talk about caching so much that my eyes begin to roll back into my head!

After that we headed over to Smokey Bones BBQ and Grill and had a meal there. I am coming down with a cold, so I didn't order anything fantastically different -- just some chicken strips -- because I knew I wouldn't be able to taste much anyhow. Plus my stomach was feeling a bit acidy, and that plus BBQ sauce doesn't equate for a good nights sleep. (Not that I have been getting those either!! oy vey)

So the moral of this blog entry is ... don't get old. It's not very fun.

work...

is really going well, I'm enjoying it and the people I work with are a bit stressed but doing well. We're still a bit short-staffed, but now that the people that have been hired have had a bit more training, it has taken some of the pressure off my boss.

Unfortunately over on the camera sales and the developing lab, things have gotten worse -- a few people have handed in their 2 weeks notice (for better jobs, not because they aren't happy working at our store). So the store manager is a bit stressed!

But overall, the opening of the store has gone well, there have been some growing pains, but they are slowly working themselves out. Our biggest growing pain is that we have so many new things coming in and no place to put them!!

Nevermind -- at least that is a good problem to have!

ohhhh the irony...

when I read that Gwyneth Paltrow had a baby boy and has named him Moses, I laughed... but then this morning I read the following sentence and I laughed so hard I cried....

"The actress, 33, delivered baby son Moses in New York's Mount Sinai hospital over the weekend."

honestly!

some sleep would be nice...

haven't slept for the past three nights.

Friday night I can understand -- the night before opening day -- a bit like the night before your first day at school or like Christmas Eve... something big happnening soon...

but Saturday I should have been so exhausted I should have slept like a rock. Nope. Not only did I not sleep, I missed out on an hour that I wouldn't have slept either because of the clocks going forward! Nevermind. I just could not get comfortable -- my back ached (and yes, I did take a pain killer before bed) and my joints were sore.

Last night? Should have slept like a rock -- again. But nope! Every time I fell asleep I began to dream about working. It was awful. So then I would wake up frustrated again, and toss and turn trying to get comfortable and then slowly fall asleep again, only to dream of more work. Then some time in the middle of the night we had a huge rumble of thunder -- it was really loud! And then a few minutes later some lightning and more thunder...

So needless to say, I am not in good shape today. I am scheduled to work from noon til 8:30pm... pray for me! oy vey.
