Scales Questionnaire now live on our Web server!
April 2002 Archives
In reading a post on Google on colour blindness and traffic lights (whilst searching for help on my moveable type blog) I found this funny comment which made me laugh
> The military, on the other hand, wants no part of me.
Understandable. It would be a gross breach of etiquette to run a red light in an armoured tank...
Blog tidied up after test posts last night on my Basic HTML training course.
Andy of PCJunky linked to this site and created a button which I've nicked - thanks Andy!
Looney Toons take the mickey out of the Matrix with The Matwix
Finally figured out how to get Mandrake 8.2 to talk across the network via my proxy server and out on the network - now works a treat!
Also installed Universe Personal Edition on it - will not be that much use without SystemBuilder though :-(
Had to install compress as this wasn't in the default mandrake install!
Search facility now added to the site and favicon.ico also added to allow proper bookmarking.
hmmm - maybe it wasnt such a good idea to post a graphic in the table!
Found a lego picture of me!
Also don't need webwasher as Outpost does the same job, so thats one less app to run on the machine. Also it means I can let eudora use html email and NOT get the graphics in emails - saving a lot of download time when reading emails (and making them secure)
A new day, a new security implementation. I now have Outpost as my firewall - gives me a lot more control than Zonealarm and my internet connection seems stable enough to use it!
Hacksfs has some good links and information about Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 which I got on Saturday - managed to land several times on the first flight - but not managed to land on the runway yet!
this site doesn't seem to work under Mandrake - no idea why. This linux fing is difficult!
I couldn't find my posting about removing MSN messenger permanently, and I've needed it twice this week so for those people looking for it (and for my absentmindness) you just need to run RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
Wreak some vengeance!
Yesterday was the London Marathon - I didn't compete, but I did finish my own marathon - and that was my next goal of running 2km - 13 minutes and 38 seconds for the time keepers amongst you. Then did my rower, cross-trainer,steps and bike and felt suprisingly good after all that!

Going to try and get mandrake installed on the old pc this weekend!
Going to be a busy weekend. Been playing with DNS2go which gives me the ability to have this domain hosted either on my pc (when connected to the internet) or back to my main domain when i'm offline. Looks pretty good so far (and it also synch's the pc's clock too whilst connected :-)
Registered a new domain today for work today. This has my scales work on it. By the end of next week it will be running on a nice IBM pizza box web server (I hope!)
Amazing photos of the Northern Lights!
Would you Adam 'n Eve it! Woke up yesterday morning to discover we had no water! Kristen's first thought was to call the plumber back! Checked the water and we had no water. Eventually rang the water company (after having to go online first to get the phone number!) and discovered it would be off until 6pm (turns out it was off until 10pm!) so we had great fun trying not to use the loo all day! Had a nice meal out at a friends house and I had a go at archery - good fun and I have a straight eye - although consistently aiming high. My fingers hurt this morning from pulling the string back though!
Plumbers been again!!!! This time though we have two new ball cock thingies and no drips - I really hope this is the last visit as its a right pain!
Also found a new email washer program. This enables you to automatically bounce spam emails back to the senders by checking against various spam lists. The only downside to that is that a lot of them use fake emails...still it marks your email address as invalid to the legit (if thats possible) spammers. Mailwasher. Can't remember where I found the link to this.
Found another program in my war against popups and banners. Proxomitron (weird word!) seems to do the job pretty well and seems quite advanced. You do need to be a geek to use it though!
Hmmm - had a link to www.ukgolfer.helsby.org appear in my log files. Seeing as though that site doesn't officially exist I was quite suprised. Then noticed it had been clicked on twice! For the curious, that actually ends up at the pictures of the K3 Go-Karting final last year. If you know where the link came from the let me know!
