I got my first spam in my gmail account over the weekend. It therefore took about two days from posting my email address on a newsgroup posting to getting spam. It was for the Nigerian 411 scam :-( If I get any more then I may drop the account and setup another one using my other gmail invite.

Ya, I got some spam not long after I started using my Gmail account for comments like this one. I stopped doing that pretty quickly, but still...
It really don't take long for spammers to "bot" for e-mail addresses in the gmail.com domain either. We all know that it's well worth the time to do it since there are probably over a million valid e-mail addresses setup in Gmail currently.
Once Gmail goes live and we can kill one account for another, it probably won't be such a problem. Moving over the 250MB's of e-mail in the old account to the new one might be. :)
